| Q. |
Mine isn't what you'd exactly call a traditional family. You know,
with a mom, a dad and 2.3 children. Will we feel awkward? |
| A. |
Not at all. Our diversity is most evident during our Sunday morning
worship celebrations. "Family" means many things to many people.
We're certain that your family will feel comfortable at Fort Washington
and soon feel that you are a welcomed addition to our family. |
|
|
| Q. |
With so much going on at Fort Washington, you probably don't have
much involvement with the "outside" community, do you? |
| A. |
An important part of our ministry is outside the walls of the
church. We make financial contributions to many programs that
aid older adults, children, families in transition, people with
AIDS, homeless individuals, you name it. In addition, members
of our church family are actively involved with many wonderful
non-profit organizations. Our faith is something we try to practice
in our everyday lives, reaching well beyond our building. |

| Q. |
I grew up in the Catholic Church and don't know much about Protestants.
While your church sounds interesting, is it really for me? |
| A. |
That's not for us to answer. The only way you'll know for sure
is if you come to visit us. You may be interested to know that
our members represent backgrounds ranging from Protestant to Catholic
to Buddhism to Judaism. Some, too, had no church affiliation of
any kind before coming to Fort Washington. |

|
| Q. |
I'm interested in checking out your church but I have a lot to
do on Sundays. Do you stay in church all day? |
| A. |
Our Sunday morning service lasts just over an hour. While there
are many activities before and after this service (Sunday School,
Bible studies, youth events, crafts classes, etc.) you are free
to come to our 11:00 o'clock service and then continue about your
day. |

|
| Q. |
Your church has a beautiful garden, unique for a New York City
church. Do you rent it out for weddings? |
| A. |
Church members are welcome to get married at Fort Washington.
Due to the number of requests we receive, though, non-members
may not rent the church for weddings. For more information about
weddings at Fort Washington, please contact the minister. |

|
| Q. |
I understand that you are a multi-cultural congregation. Do you
have church services in Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Greek or Russian? |
| A. |
While these are among the 33 languages spoken in our community, our services currently are conducted in English or Spanish. We also offer a Spanish language Bible study on Sunday mornings and our Prayer Group prays in many languages. We also have Bibles available in a variety of languages and translations. |
|
|
| Q. |
I'm part of a community organization and we need a meeting space.
Can you help me? |
| A. |
Fort Washington Collegiate Church regularly makes space available
to non-profit organizations. This increases our outreach to our
community. You may obtain a facilities request form from the church
office. (We do not make space available to businesses or political
organizations.) |
|
|
| Q. |
I'm an artist and I notice you don't have any programs directly
related to people in the arts. Why? |
| A. |
As the needs of our congregation and our community grow, the program life of Fort Washington expands. New organizations and programs are being developed all the time. Our Young Adult Fellowship is a great example. It provides a friendly environment for conversation, fun and fellowship in a drug- and alcohol-free environment. The best way to be a part of these exciting expansions is to be involved in our church. This way you can have direct input into our programs. |
