Dear Colleague: This letter is to introduce you to New York Vocal Artists. We were founded in 1992 as a place for professional-level singers to present material appropriate to their career needs in a professional environment. Since our founding, we have presented more than eighty concerts and have been performing exclusively in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. Our format allows you to work through your repertiore to performance level, in the original language, with a Juilliard-trained conductor. In addition, we can recommend coaches from three major houses (MET, NYCO, Kirov) for private preparation before your scheduled rehearsals. In 1995 we began a new phase of our operations by sponsoring our first annual Vocal Competition, while continuing our regular concert series. This coming season marks our Eighth Anniversary, during which we will produce a series of five concerts in Weill Hall, including our Vocal Competition Finals Gala scheduled to take place in the Fall of 2002 (date TBA). Our Semifinals Galas in preparation for the Finals round will also be held in Weill Hall on March 16, May 9, and June 20. A $3500 First Prize, $1500 Second Prize, and a $500 Third Prize will be awarded, along with $4000 in performing scholarships to be shared among the three Prizewinners. Digital recordings of the singers chosen for these concerts are planned, and will be distributed on the World Wide Web through mp3.com. Auditions for our Eighth Annual Competition are now under way. Qualified participants will also be brought to the attention of opera companies and professional management throughout the country whenever possible. Please read our opening page for further details on NYVA. Thus, we feel that New York Vocal Artists has established a true career path for singers to expand their horizons at the level suitable to their individual talents. Should you feel this situation is appropriate for you, please fill out and submit our audition questionnaire along with your resume by e-mail to info@nyva.org, by fax to 212-989-3301, or mail everything (including photo, please!) to New York Vocal Artists You may also print out a copy of the application form to mail in with your resume and photo from a link below. Forms received without accompanying résumés will not be considered! Should you be called for an audition, a $40 Registration Fee will be due at the time of your audition. Please also bring an extra copy of your materials to hand in. Thank you for your interest. Sincerely, The 2001 New Millennium Vocal Competition is a sponsored project of the New York Foundation for the Arts. You may also download the application form in the Adobe Acrobat PDF format, to print out and send in, by
